‘Protect your endpoints’ is the key message from all the IT security experts and with good reason. With all of us having so many devices – mobiles, smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktops, etc – the cyber attack or data breach threat is broader than ever and this fractured approach works in the cyber criminals’ favour. Many solution providers claim to have a product that can defeat or prevent an attack but few can claim total protection. One that can is McAfee©, arguably the most recognised IT security brand and market leader in Endpoint Security.
With the rapid changes in cyber security over the last few years, it’s vital that threat protection solutions match the exploits of the cyber criminals and meet the needs of businesses and organisations to ensure they remain secure. One of AVR’s key service tenets is to keep close to all of our customers and industry prospects to be certain we have the right solutions. One way of doing that is to run surveys where we ask the recipients for their views. We have one currently running that offers a free £10 Starbucks Coffee voucher and we invite you to participate!
Take a look at the headlines on any news media at any time of any day and you could be forgiven thinking that the world has fallen out of love. War, politics, cyber attacks, religious hatred, sexism, racism and so on. Bad news sells newspapers as they used to say. Mid February gives us the opportunity, just for a brief moment, to share the love, albeit in a slightly manufactured way. St Valentine’s Day mostly benefits flower sellers and chocolate manufacturers, but it does remind us that expressing love is no bad thing and at AVR, we have decided to embrace the emotion too!
Now we’re not ones to scare monger but when the head of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre says that a major cyber attack on the UK is only a matter of time then that seems pretty serious to us! Ciaran Martin who runs the Security Centre suggests that the lessons learned from the malicious cyber activity in 2017 indicates that more cyber disruption is on its way.
So as a business owner or IT professional, what can you do to make sure you’re organisation is not in the firing line?
Many of the recent comments on cyber and ransomware attacks centres around when an attack is going to happen and not if. Opinion seems to be that no business or organisation is immune from attack and as the data and information held by every company has a value, all companies are targets for cyber criminals. The damage that can be done by hackers accessing your network and obtaining data can be disastrous, affecting the stability and future well-being of the organisation. So identifying where your business may be vulnerable becomes an important consideration. A Pen or Penetration Test will find all the gaps and access points, giving you the opportunity to increase your security and stop intrusions.
Writing this post today 20th November, I calculate there are just 25 working days until the end of the year. It’s quite staggering how quickly time passes. How those lovely warm summer days have fast faded into the memory as the cold, damp, dark days of winter approach. So have you achieved all you wanted to in 2017? Can we help you with any outstanding threat protection, data compliance or mobile device management issues? Always happy to chat and provide an alternative quote with no obligation.
Back in 2002 when businesses would traditionally purchase a suite of anti-virus signature detection based solutions from one vendor, Helen Hall started a business in the basement of her home, with the objective of offering her customers a diverse range of security solutions to better match their specific company requirements. Anti Virus Reseller Ltd was born on 22nd October 2002 and now in 2017, we are proudly celebrating AVR’s 15th birthday!
Over 50% of all UK businesses were hit by a cyber attack in 2017. Seven out of ten large firms identified a breach and those businesses holding electronic data were twice as likely to be attacked (UK Government Cyber Breaches Survey 2017). All of those attacked will have anti-virus and firewalls in place, but today’s advanced malware can breach those defences. Next Generation Endpoint Protection will stop every type of attack at every stage in the threat life-cycle. So what’s stopping you giving your business this vital security?
‘I’m too small to be a target’ must be one of the most common phrases we hear when talking to companies about cyber attacks and data breaches. It’s understandable when the media is quick to broadcast news of large scale computer virus or Ransomware attacks on well-known businesses. The reality is quite different. Statistics from Small Business Trends shows that 43% of cyber attacks target small businesses, with just 14% being effective at mitigating attacks and sadly 60% of small companies go out of business within six months of a cyber attack.
Here we go again! Another major, global Ransomware attack has launched that is causing havoc and disruption to businesses and organisations across the world. The cyber-attackers are demanding ransoms to release or unlock data, which in most cases will never be recovered. There is an answer. There is total and complete managed Endpoint Protection that will protect and detect against the threat.
